Little Star was founded on a mission to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Though we're pleased about our hundreds of 5 star online reviews, we still meet every week to discuss and implement how to improve.

Our Services

Meet the Little Star team

Owner

Jobie

Born and raised in the UK, Jobie was raised in a creative environment with an architect/product inventor as his father and painter as his mother.

Being innovative and creative has always come naturally to Jobie, offering ideas and a vision to his clients when they cannot see a solution to their renovation challenges for themselves. Initially, Jobie began Little Star out of his garage, taking on all manner of work to supplement his musical career. Despite these humble beginnings, Little Star Renovations grew quickly and organically, fuelled by Jobie’s attitude of never backing down from a challenge and a deep desire to always do right by his clients. Jobie’s mantra for the company is simple: “I want Little Star to be a trusted household name. I want our projects to be designed and executed with thoughtfulness and care, and I want to keep clients for life.” Jobie lives in Deep Cove and is a proud husband to Terra, and father of four.

Senior Project Manager

Sam

Sam is a proud father of one, who was born in Ontario and raised in Kamloops, B.C.

It was there that he met Jobie at a young age and their friendship and bond grew from there. They shared the battle scars and the great memories from chasing the music dream together, and now from building a renovation company together. Sam is Little Star's Senior Project Manager and has a background in many facets of the construction world, with extensive experience in drywall/painting finishing. This experience, combined with the ability to connect with the clients and understand their individual needs, allows him to guide every project from start to finish with an eye for all the details that are so important to our clients, and help Little Star stand out from the competition. Sam loves to play his vintage Ludwig drums, and spending time outdoors or with his friends and family.

Estimation & Project Coordination

Pip

Pip was born and raised in Australia but has called Vancouver home for the last 14 years.

Studying Architecture has ingrained in her a love of design as well as knowledge of building. Now owning a 110-year-old Commercial Drive character home, she found firsthand the joys - and surprises - of home renovations. Pip has been with Little Star since 2014, and is responsible for the putting together of estimates, coordinating site walkthroughs with the trades, and guiding the clients on the journey from the design phase to building phase. Blessed with an upbeat attitude and excellent communication skills, Pip has a genuine love for seeing spaces beautifully transformed and the client’s renovation dreams realized. Pip is the proud owner of a spoiled Mexican rescue dog, and a vintage VW bus.

Site Supervisor

Ian

Though Ian was born in Canada and now considers it home, he is a proud Scotsman who grew up in his homeland, before moving to Toronto many years ago.

Ian is the man with an eye for detail, who takes the time to protect your home at the beginning of each project, coordinates getting all the materials safely on site, and takes care of all the nitty gritty to keep your project clean and safe. He is the first one in, and the last one out, and is highly valued by our clients throughout the renovations. With a wide variety of skills and a respect for the stressful situations that a renovation can sometimes produce, clients always know they are in good hands when Ian is around. His love of perfection shows in his hobby of building and painting miniature 2nd world war models. He also loves roller skating with his long-term partner, Marianna.

Designer

Holly

Growing up in the Caribou, Holly was influenced at an early age by the earthy elements of her small lakeside hometown, and they still inspire her design aesthetic today.

Holly was first introduced to design and construction as a young girl as she watched her father build their family home, whom she credits for her strong work ethic. Throughout her childhood she would redecorate and rearrange her bedroom endlessly, this was her first taste of the power of mixing textures, patterns, and colours. She soon realized how a beautiful well-designed space can affect how people feel. Holly went on to study interior design at BCIT and now specializes in renovations, building permit submissions and new construction. Holly recently completed a homeowner builder course and is now in the midst of building her own timber frame home on Bowen Island with the help of her much-loved father and husband. Holly likes to begin her day with a run around the seawall, with her pup by her side. She uses these moments to enjoy the simple quiet moments before the hustle and bustle of the day. Holly is a detailed person who focuses on delivering individualized service to each client. She embraces challenges with optimism and is committed to keeping clients informed throughout each step of the design process.

Designer

Pedro

Brazilian-born Pedro graduated his Architecture and Urban Planning studies and is now our treasured designer!

Pedro was the youngest of his class at 16 when he first started engineering school. After 2 years he realized that being part of the creative process was something that made him happier, so he changed his plans and entered the Architecture and Urban Planning school.

With 5 years of experience in residential architecture and design in Brazil, Pedro moved to Canada, bringing with him the influences of great Brazilian architects like Oscar Niemeyer, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Lina Bo Bardi, and many others.

Self-driven and extremely focused, he's the kind of person that has his next 10 years already planned in a spreadsheet. He is always aspiring for success, and it shows in his diligent work bringing our clients home dreams to reality!

Pedro is the oldest of 3 siblings, and (as a proud Brazilian) he loves going to the beach, reading, going to the gym and to the movies.
